JOB DESCRIPTION: Seasonal, Retail Sales Associate, to work in a fast paced, high energy, professional outfitter with a lengthy season that ranges from March through November.

PAY: Based on experience.

SUMMARY: We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable fly fisher that enjoys sharing their knowledge and passion for fly fishing with our clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide excellent customer service to our clients

Have an interest and passion for fly fishing and enjoy conversations about it

Have the ability to rig fishing gear and teach or instruct clients how to rig fishing gear as needed

Must be friendly, patient and professional with all clients

Must possess professional phone skills and be proficient with computers

Be knowledgeable of all Davidson River Outfitters Product lines and offerings

Have knowledge of local and regional fisheries

Work closely with sales associates to ensure that the guest experience is seamless

Have knowledge of all aspects of trout and smallmouth bass fishing

Assist the store manager with any duties assigned, as needed

Know DRO operating and emergency polices and operate within them

Must have cash handling experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, college degree preferred

Five or more years of fly fishing experience in the area

Must be proficient in fly casting, fly fishing and all related aspects.

 

BACKGROUND:

Applicant will have to pass a federal background check consistent with current USFS regulations.

LOCATION:

Applicant must be located in the Brevard, Asheville, Hendersonville, NC area or be willing to relocate to the area.

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

Applicant must possess the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Applicant must possess the ability to write simple correspondence. Applicant must possess the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATH ABILITY:

Applicant must possess the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applicant must possess the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Applicant must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Applicant must possess the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Licensing, MS Word, Excel, and ability to learn new computer programs is a necessity
