Imagine sight-casting to a school of bonefish feeding on a white sand flat in less than two feet of crystal clear water. Now imagine seeing one inhale your fly and take off across the flat at thirty-five miles an hour—that’s about fifty-feet per second—while your reel’s drag sings. You’re into your backing in the blink of an eye and the fight has just begun...Sound like fun?
Join Walker Parrott, Head Guide at Davidson River Outfitters, on the Bonefish trip of a lifetime. Home to the best bonefishing in the world, Andros Island, the largest island in the Bahamas, features expansive white sand flats, remote cays, and secluded Mangrove creeks and inland ponds. During your trip, you may also have shots at Permit and Tarpon. For a change of pace, you can also fish for Barracuda on top with poppers, and you may even have the chance to sight-cast to large Mutton Snapper in six inches of water.
You will stay for four nights at the famed Andros South fishing lodge on South Andros Island and fish for three days with their experienced and knowledgeable guides. The accommodations are excellent, the food is delicious, and the bonefishing is as good as it gets.

Just after the first snow of the year, the fish are slow and the temps are cold. If you plan to fish this time of year, sleep in and make a cup of coffee before heading to the river. Around 10:00 the water and the air will warm up and the fish will start feeding for the day. The fish will feed until 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon until the sun goes behind the trees and the air temps start to drop again. Make sure you wear layers so you can add and subtract clothes throughout the day. As always when fishing during the winter, make sure that you have a plan of where you are going and tell others where you expect to be and what time you expect to be off the water, in case something happens while you are fishing.
